#13 - Melanie Nieske, Scott Brenton & SarahJean Sews - Salsacast!
Time for a Salsacast, everyone! Good friends and artists, Melanie Nieske and Scott Brenton, join SarahJean Sews and I on a podcast, and it was both epic and hilarious!
We all met at Salsa Capítal, one of the main salsa dancing clubs in Lansing. Melanie, Scott, and Sews are the shit. I am but a mere baby learning to spreads its salsa wings.
Melanie is also a rad artist! She draws, sketches, and paints, and she is well known among the musicians who frequent Blue Owl because she'll draw them while they perform at the open mic, and then give them the sketch! Not only has she given me one, but during the podcast, Melanie even gave me a colored drawing of me performing at Kingston Kitchen. As if that wasn't enough, she also gave Sews a watercolor of Sews and I salsa dancing! So awesome!
Scott is a lover of languages, traveling, and gourmet mushrooms! Turns out he sketches as well, and he gave me some typography sketches. I fucking love fonts, how did he know???
And to top it off, Sews gave Melanie one of her ridiculously awesome repurposed aprons from thrifted material!
We talk about marijuana, traveling, languages, art, and of course, salsa dancing. We not only did we talk about salsa dancing, we danced a bit! Since there's 15 minutes of audio in the podcast that is mostly salsa music (about 2 hours in), here's a youtube clip of that segment so you can see the video to go along with the podcast!
All the love...I can't even...or can I? :D
